Orlando with kids
Part 2 of Tips in Orlando is dedicated to those of you that are traveling with children. I will give you what I think based on age. For toddlers - age 6. DEFINITELY GET A STROLLER if you didn't bring one, it is worth every penny. These parks are HUGE and little legs get tired, then it's cranky kids and parents! The Magic Kingdom is definitely "top dog" (or mouse). It is broken up into lands. You can't go wrong here but the best areas in the MK, I think, for little ones are Toon Town, Fantasyland and Main Street USA. All are must dos for your little ones. You will see lots of characters in Toon Town as well as at town hall on main street and check the park for parade times that are a must see for every family. Typhoon Lagoon was a great day for our family. My husband went off with the 2 older kids to go on all the water slides and I stayed with my little guy at the "beach". I got to sit on a lounge chair and read a book while he played in the water. It was about 18" at it's deepest point and there were lots of things for him to play on/with. MGM is probably the easiest of the Disney parks to visit everything in one day without feeling like you just ran a marathon. It is much smaller in comparison to the other 3 parks but packed with tons of thing for little ones and bigger kids alike! Star Tours is always our favorite because my boys love Star Wars. Ask to take the little ones on here, they have a special ride for them. All the sound effects without the motion. Epcot is best for older kids, I never take the little guy here. Perhaps they will add more to get this age group involved but I would visit at night with little ones if you have a Park Hopper to see Illuminations and have a great dinner (try Alfredos in Italy). BEST RIDE EVER as far as I am concerned is Soarin'. I went on it in California and couldn't get enough. It is a virtual reality and ift feels like you are hand gliding over the most beautiful scenery in the U.S. All of your senses are used and when you fly over the orange grove you can smell the oranges. It is amazing! Sorry Universal but I am going to recommend not taking the little ones to Islands of Adventure. There is a small kiddie area but I wouldn't go back. My older kids missed out on a lot here because of their height as well. My oldest loves roller coasters but was too short. If you have kids who love roller coasters and make the height requirements, they will love Islands of Adventure. My husband would have spent all day running from The Deuling Dragons to the Hulk and back. #1 for me was Spiderman and I would ride it again and again! Too bad my 3 year old couldn't get on it since he is a Spiderman fanatic. It would be great if they did a kid version of it like Disney does with Star Tours. As far as Universal Studios, again, with little ones, I would skip it but kids over 6 will enjoy all the movie rides, tours, etc. Sea World is lots of fun for everyone. You can come a second day too so if you want to take your time you can have two days of fun for the price of one. If your little ones like sea creatures and will sit through shows, it is a must! Krakkin, their roller coaster, I am told was AWESOME and worth the wait! Amie Varney Prudential Verani Realty 603-679-5654 x3920 Office 603-490-8799 Cell
